Position: Emergency Dispatcher

Starting salary: $16.00 Per Hour (Negotiable based on experience)

Preferred Experience: Emergency dispatcher experience preferred but not required.

Major Responsibility and Activities

Relate ordinances, policies, and methods to citizens relevant to reported problems
Receive and forward radio traffic regarding pertinent information
Receive, compose, forward, and route information to appropriate parties
Answer 911 and administration calls
Document prisoner histories, receive property, and supervise prisoners according to well-defined practices
Search prisoners and secure prisoner property
Assure prisoners are fed and receive necessary medical attention
Receive cash bonds/fines or other means for prisoner release
Ensure monetary integrity by documenting all monies received from prisoner’s property and/or cash bond payments
Remain updated on relevant equipment, policies, procedures, laws, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property and institutions    


Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid driver license
Must pass a health examination and drug screen
This is a safety sensitive position; therefore, medical marijuana is not permitted
Must pass a background investigation
Must be willing to work mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts
Must be able to use telephone, facsimile, computer, email, and radio
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
Must be able to handle stress effectively without it interfering with performance
Must be able to defend oneself in case of an emergency
Must possess or be able to obtain appropriate certifications
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
Must possess basic computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Must handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality
No felony convictions
No conviction for domestic assault
No conviction for a crime of moral turpitude
Must be a U.S. Citizen or meet eligibly requirements for working in the U.S.

Physical: Primary functions require ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment. Continuous sitting and some walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. Occasional squatting, kneeling, and reaching. Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents, and to operate office equipment.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Pay and Benefits

Starting salary – $16.00 Per Hour
Tuition reimbursement – Up to $2,500 per year (Subject to approval)
