Central Tech’s Adult Career Development (ACD) department offers more than 80 classes over the course of a year, with many of them lasting less than 30 classroom days.
“We’re striving to help individuals earn a competitive salary and the ability to secure a better future,” said Patti Pouncil, ACD Drumright Coordinator.
Students can enroll and complete Certified Medication Aide, General Education Paraprofessional, Special Education Paraprofessional, Certified Nurse Aide – Long Term Care (CNA-LTC), Phlebotomy, Home Health Aide (HHA), Medical Administration Technician, or Unarmed Security Guard in less than one month.
When students finish one of these classes, they are prepared to obtain a license or certification, qualifying them for jobs in high demand.
“This experience is the best thing that has happened in my life,” said Tina Sanchez, CNA-LTC and HHA alumni. “I am not only meeting my goals; I’m able to provide for my family.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Certified Nurse Aides will have a growth of 21 percent by 2022, with a national medium salary of $11.73 per hour.
Central Tech’s ACD department is not the only area on campus preparing students for success in 30 days or less. Students can complete the Truck Driver Training program in 23 training days.
Truck Driver Training is an outstanding program with experienced staff for 45 years, and is the only Professional Truck Driving Institute (PTDI) certified program in the state of Oklahoma.
“Our program has a 99 percent placement rate,” said Mark Brown, Truck Driver Training Director. “We have a ratio of two students per truck, and that allows students to develop proficient driving skills.”
