Business & information technology

Equip yourself with essential skills for success in the business world! In this class you will gain comprehensive knowledge in finance, accounting, business, and insurance, empowering you to excel in office environments or even embark on your entrepreneurial journey.

BUSINESS. I PLAN TO GO INTO BUSINESS.

But what part of business?

Since there are so many business principles (subjects), you will receive a well-rounded education to better understand all aspects of a business. Then, you choose the area that interests you the most and start building your own pathway to align with your career goals.

THE YEAR 2020 CHANGED THE WAY WE WORK, COMMUNICATE, LEARN, AND TRAVEL.

More and more people are looking for jobs where they can work from home. If they do go to the office, they want flexible work schedules aimed at helping them balance work and family.

“I chose to attend Central Tech because while running a business and being a mom, I needed a class schedule that would work around my needs. Also, the one-on-one help you get with the teachers is always a selling point when it comes to education.”
KRISTY PEMBROOK, ALUMNI

EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

If you aspire to work in an office environment, you might choose Executive Administrative Assistant. These jobs require people with good communication and organizational skills, who are detail oriented and able to prioritize.

ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE

If accounting became your favorite, Full Charge Bookkeeper would be ideal for you. It may surprise you to know that many students who don’t like math actually enjoy accounting. In simplest terms, do you have any money? If you spend some, do you know how much you have left? That’s accounting.

“A critical part of professional development, whether your next step is higher education or entering the workforce. Central Tech is a huge asset to the community.”

Organizations & Competitions

Our student organization is Business Professionals of America (BPA). As a member of the organization, you can compete in and travel to various competitions. Our favorites are listed below.

They are our favorites since we have had a student or team win at the state level and/or the national leadership conference in at least one of these competitions since 2005. While we are bragging,

  • students win and hold state offices each year,
  • our chapter has been recognized nationally many times with an award of excellence, and
  • both instructors have National Board Certifications. We’re pretty awesome.

Now back to some of our favorite competitions!

More Information

Looking for a job can be stressful. The interview seminar focuses on combining employability skills, with resume writing, cover letters, and interviewing skills.

Business professionals donate their time toward MOCK INTERVIEWS with our students. They coach, encourage, and make recommendations to aid students in finding a job after graduation. This allows our students to practice and build on their skills in a low stress environment.

To be successful in business, you need more than the skills to do the job. Employers hire and reward employees with strong employability skills.

Those who enjoy collaborating, are active listeners, and possess effective communication skills are valuable employees. Companies rely on dependability, adaptability, leadership, and problem-solvers. These businesses tend to have more productive workplaces which is vital in this increasingly competitive world.

Fun Fact – many times, human resource managers have a job opening after conducting the mock interviews, and in turn, have called our instructors and made job offers to students they met through the mock interviews.

JOB DEMAND & PAY

The annual median wage for Secretaries and Administrative Assistants is $46,010. Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerks make an annual median salary of $47,440.

For those who choose to pursue a college degree, annual median pay includes $79,880 for Accountant and Auditors, $99,890 for Financial Analysts, and $67,650 for Human Resources to name a few career options.

OUR GRADUATES

After completing the business class, our graduates go straight to work or college. There are several possibilities no matter which direction you choose.

Those who go to work usually start in any type of business office (such as law or medical offices), open their own business, or work in customer service or human relations for a variety of industries (such as community banks or AT&T).

Students who transition to college usually major in business, finance, accounting, marketing, business management, entrepreneurship, human resources (HR), or business education.
