On June 17, five students graduated from Central Tech’s Surgical Technology program and are now ready to join the workforce.

Chelsea Casey of Oilton, Yolanda Conklin of Cushing, Jason Musgrove of Bristow, Antonette Rish of Cushing, and Alice Tiger of Sapulpa completed the 10-month program that started in August.

These graduates are now eligible to take the national surgical technologist certification exam. Passing the exam will certify them to work as a surgical technologist anywhere in the United States.

The surgical technology program at Central Tech is designed to prepare students for a career in the medical field. Students learn the fundamentals of being a surgical technologist, maintaining a sterile field and overall training to perform tasks related to surgery in and out of the operating room.

Students can begin their career as surgical technologists, or can use their training for a different career path, such as a medical sales representative.

Central Tech congratulates this group of hard-working students for their accomplishment and wishes them well in their future endeavors.
