Assistant Superintendent of Central Tech, Mark Cotner recently completed an economic development training program offered by OG&E. The multi-day OG&E Economic Development 101 Training equips local community leaders and officials with insights and best-practices in economic development.
“We are excited to bring new and innovative ways to support local communities and foster the leadership needed for successful economic growth,” said Alba Weaver, Director of Economic Development and Community Affairs. “Our goal is to provide our communities with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective economic development programs that will positively impact their growth.”
OG&E, the state’s largest electric company, believes it is only as strong as the communities it serves and is committed to the economic growth and prosperity of those cities and towns. OG&E has an entire team that works closely with local, regional, and state leaders to identify and pursue economic development that brings more jobs, investment and prosperity to OG&E’s service area and the customers and communities it serves.
The OG&E Economic Development 101 program brought together 14 local economic development leaders from Oklahoma and Arkansas for three days of intensive training in November. The participants gained valuable insights into the evolution and practice of modern economic development. They learned how to evaluate and support economic development initiatives, and strategic approaches for building a compelling business case for each community. Each participant was selected for their unique role in influencing local economic development efforts and advocating for the economic health of their respective communities.
“Completing OG&E’s Economic Development 101 training has provided me with valuable tools and strategies to support our local communities and businesses,” said Mark Cotner, assistant superintendent at Central Tech. “This program has reinforced the importance of collaboration, strategic planning, and advocacy to ensure continued growth and opportunity for the people we serve.”
