Representative Skye McNiel, R-District 29, received the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education Distinguished Serivce Award at the 47th Annual CareerTech Summer Conference. The conference was held Aug. 1-2 in Oklahoma City at the Cox Convention Center.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals or organizations outside of the career and technology education for their commitment and contribution to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technology education at a statewide level.

McNiel, born in Sapulpa, graduated from Bristow High School in 1996 and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture communications and animal science from Oklahoma State University. After graduation McNeil returned to Bristow to work in the family stockyard business before opening her own flower and gift shop on Main Street in Bristow.

In 2006 McNeil was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives to represent Creek County. She has held many distinguished positions, and is currently the chair of the A&B CareerTech Committee.

The Distinguished Service Award is a prestigious award presented by the Oklahoma ACTE, the professional organization for the state’s CareerTech administrators, teachers and staff members.

Central Tech would like to congratulate Representative McNiel for receiving this honor.
